Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. It was founded in 1989 as the first national charity for people with eating disorders. It aims to be a champion, guide and friend to anyone affected by eating disorders, giving individuals and their loved ones a place where they feel listened to, supported and empowered. Beat is also actively involved in pioneering research to help with the prevention and treatment of eating disorders, as well as government campaigns to improve access to care and reduce waiting times. Beat receives no government funding, so relies on the generosity of supporters to help continue their important work.
